Prompt: After reading "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" (see class overview from 09-11-2017), you were tasked with coming to class with one question, one comment, and one observation. As an initial comment on this discussion, you will need to post all three of those things and label them appropriately (see example below). After doing this, you will need to find another person's initial post and do one of the following: (A) attempt to answer the question the other has asked about the text, (B) discuss the validity of the comment the other person has made about the text, or (C) provide reasoning to prove why Edwards may have included what was observed by the other person. Requirements: Your initial post must be at least three complete thoughts/sentences/independent clauses in length. Your response must equally satisfy that requirement. Your response must also contain a quotation either from "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" or from Jonathan Edwards' page from Encyclopædia Britannica (accessible through the link following Edwards' biography on the right-hand side of this page).

Jonathan EdwardsEdwards was an American revivalist preacher, philosopher (Theology), and Congregational Protestant. He is often credited with starting the "Great Awakening" and is well-rooted in Reformed Theology, and the metaphysics of Theological Determinism and Puritanism. The ideas of the Enlightenment were crucial to his doctrines. |
